Venetian Isles – Island Living, Downtown St. Pete Location
You want to live in Florida and you want to be near the water. Right? That is, unless your life’s goal is to live in one of those center-of-the-state mega communities where everything is pretty much, well, the same.
OK, so you’ve narrowed it down to Florida’s west coast, and you think you’d like to be near a “city” and all it offers. You own a boat. Or, maybe you’re looking at buying a boat, and you want the convenience of mooring it right out your backdoor. You want quick access to great cruising destinations whether you’re traveling by power or sail. You want diversity, i.e. an interesting mix of people, ages and interests. And you want to buy in a community where people take pride in their homes and their neighborhood. Oh, and you want value.
Venetian Isles should be at the top of your list.
When “ground” was first broken in 1958, Venetian Isles was labeled as one of the state’s most costly waterfront ventures. But not so today. (We use the term “ground” loosely as what is now Venetian Isles was actually dredged from the bottom of Tampa Bay.) In fact, these days Venetian Isles’ 500+ homes are very competitively priced and values abound. A majority of the homes, most of which were built in the mid-60’s, have undergone extensive renovations, and the Venetian Isles Homeowners Association ensures that remodeling is done in accordance with its goal of preserving the unique character of the community. And they’ve been very successful.
Venetian Isles is in reality a collection of manmade islands, all of which are easily accessed by bridges. It’s also known for its deepwater canals. Boats of pretty much any size have the clearance they need to make it in and out of their slips and into a boater’s paradise, Tampa Bay and beyond, the Gulf of Mexico.
Excellent public and private schools are right nearby and there’s also a nursery/pre-school. Downtown St. Petersburg, with its upscale shopping, a myriad of dining options and its rich cultural and sports offerings, is within easy driving distance, and the area’s public transportation system makes getting around a snap. In fact, Venetian Isles’ proximity to two interstates and other major thoroughfares makes getting virtually anywhere in the greater Tampa Bay area and beyond simple and convenient.
The area’s medical care facilities are second to none. All nearby are; St. Anthony’s Hospital, All Children’s Hospital, Bayfront Medical Center, Northside Hospital & Heart Institute, Tampa General Hospital and the Moffitt Cancer Center.
The Tampa Bay area is home to three professional sports franchises (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rays), renowned art museums (Henry B. Plant, Salvador Dali and Dale Chihuly, to name just a few), Busch Gardens, the Adventure Island water park, The Florida Aquarium, and of course, our world-class beaches.
